AgroParisTech is co-organising the International Drying Symposium 2026

The International Drying Symposium is the leading global event for the scientific and industrial drying community. Following previous editions held across five continents, the 24^th edition took place in France, co-organised by two prestigious French engineering schools: AgroParisTech and CentraleSupélec. The conference opened on 25 August on the Agro Paris-Saclay campus before continuing until 28 August at CentraleSupélec. Over the course of four days, keynote speeches, scientific sessions, poster presentations and discussions with industry representatives focused on a central challenge: reducing the carbon footprint of drying in a world of limited resources. The discussions were structured around four main pillars: simulation and artificial intelligence, the utilisation of intermittent energy sources, bio-based products and new drying technologies.

For AgroParisTech, organising this event represents recognition of its scientific standing in the field of sustainable processes applied to the agri-food sector and the bioeconomy. Giana Almeida, a lecturer and researcher at AgroParisTech, co-chaired the organising committee and also sat on the conference’s scientific committee, alongside Patrick Perré and Pedro Augusto (CentraleSupélec). Drying, which accounts for a significant proportion of energy consumption in the agri-food and bio-based sectors, is directly linked to the research themes pursued by AgroParisTech on the ecological transition, energy efficiency and the sustainable use of resources. Hosting this conference on the Palaiseau campus thus provided an opportunity to highlight the institution’s research capabilities and its contribution to the scientific ecosystem of Paris-Saclay University.
