The project in a nutshell
1. At the very start of the project...
The project Grignon Energie positive aims at two main goals :
> Reinforcing the role played by the village of Grignon, home to a graduate institute and to an experimental farm, in agriculture development issues.

> Taking into account the fact that farmers can play an active role in tackling the challenge of global warming and the diminishing fossil energy resources.

These two goals and the observation of the development in Germany and Austria of positive energy houses resulted in the idea of transforming the Grignon site into a positive energy site .
2. The method
The initial idea has been concretized into a project which consists in setting up on the experimental farm of AgroParisTech in Grignon a platform from which it is possible :
To explore and evaluate technical innovative solutions which bring together at the farm scale the challenges of food production, global warming and the diminishing fossil energy resources,
To gather and spread in France and abroad, the available information likely to bring relevant answers to these three challenges,
To communicate to the general public, young people and grown-ups, as well as to the professionals in order to make them aware of these challenges and to enable them to address these challenges, while keeping in mind that there will be 9 billion human beings to feed on our planet within 50 years.
From its initiation in 2006, the project has gathered several partners. It came to its operational stage in 2007, after a year dedicated to carrying out a situation diagnosis and to finding improvement paths (good agricultural practices) for the farm.
This website claims to be a space of information and exchange with people who feel concerned by these issues. We hope it will become an area dedicated to reflection and experience-sharing.
