The Laboratory of Forest Policy in ENGREF is composed of 4 scientists, including one professor. The Laboratory is carrying out teaching at master and doctoral degrees’ levels (basically in the ENGREF sites of Montpellier and Nancy), and research in the following fields :
A special focus of the researches is made on mountainous areas, basically in Kyrgyzstan (Central Asia, former USSR) and in the French massifs of the Vosges and Alps, where new modes of governance for policy and planning are particularly studied, using as a conceptual framework the "mixed model" established by the Laboratory. A special attention is paid, in both teaching and research activities, to the linkages between economic and policy analysis.
In addition, the laboratory is frequently invited to provide expertise and scientific assistance to various international organisations, in the field of forestry development and evaluation of forest policies and projects, as well as for teaching at university level. Many collaborations are established in the framework of EU programmes (COST, 6th Research and Development Framework) and other international bodies (MCPFE, FAO, ITTO). The ongoing in-depth case studies especially concern transitioning (Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine) and French speaking African (Gabon, Togo) countries.

International Symposium Nancy, France, 21-24 June 2009
Organized by IDDRI, the Center for Philosophy of Law, the AgroParisTech-ENGREF, and the Regional Council of Lorraine, the International Symposium "Change in Governance as Collective Learning Process" will take place in Nancy from the 21st to the 24th of June 2009.
This conference is organized within the framework of the RefGov project.
The deadline for submitting abstracts is 8th of March 2008 (and the second selection will be done by the scientific committe by 1st of April 2009.
