The 8th congress of the French Phytopathological Society (Société Française de Phytopathologie, SFP) will take place in Paris in 2012 at AgroParisTech (Paris Institute of Technology for Life, Food and Environmental Sciences) 16, Rue Claude Bernard 75005, Paris.
This meeting follows previous meetings organized by the SFP in Lyon in 2009, Toulouse in 2005 and Angers in 2001. The meeting welcomes french and international scientists, students and plant health professionals. The data presented will concern different aspects of plant disease including plant disease control methods. Several topics will be developped: mecanisms of plant-microbe interactions, plant defense, virulence and symbiotic processes, epidemiology of plant disease, plant pathogen detection and disease control.
The aims of the Congress are to:
- educate and share information on plant diseases and their control;
- encourage interaction between scientists of all ages and relevant disciplines;
- contribute to effective and sustainable disease management;
- strengthen global food security and environmental protection.
In 2012, the scientific community will meet in Paris to share recent data on plant health and to develop new strategies allowing better disease management.
