Objectives Training leaders and reinforcing the skills of executive managers in water and sanitation urban utilities in developing and transitional countries
Assets OpT combines:
  • lecturers who are internationally recognised professionals with at least 10 years’ experience in the field
  • students training in fostering change when they return to the company. As a managemen leader, they will put their newly acquired skills to work for the company and in the field
  • networking between services, lecturers, tutors and trainees accross countries to promote future professional exchanges
Prospects The Executive Masters programme OpT is designed for established professional of water and/or sanitation utilities and prepares for a management position
Programmes The programme takes place over a period of 12 months, with a form of occupational training.
Personal mission : the trainee will have to conduct a 3 phase study on a service chosen with his regulatory authority: diagnostic, forecasting and strategic plan, operational plan of action.

It requires that the trainee has to return twice (1 and 3 months) to his country inside the designated service.

The 12 month programme:

  • 5 months are divided into two periods of training for learning key concepts and acquiring methods.
  • 7 months, 5 of which are spent in the department targeted for their mission and 2 in a European company for an implementation work placement
Acquired skills The Executive Masters programme OpT aims to enhance the trainees’ managerial skills and particularly, to give them the expertise to:
  • diagnose their services and elaborate strategies that allow them to reach excellence in technical, social and financial objectives
  • guide change in private or state-owned companies, through sustainable management methods
  • define and then manage reform in their department or country
Useful information Teaching language : The 2010-11 session is taught in English
Required level : Applicants must have a postgraduate diploma: Diploma of Master, MSc, engineering degree, etc. However, applicants with 4-year degrees are accepted, and may be admitted by the selection committee if warranted by their professional experience and abilities. They must already be in a position of responsibility or going to reach such a position in the near future.

Applicants must have a sufficient command of the working language of the Eexcutive Masters OpT for the year in which they apply. If not, they are encouraged to apply the following year, when courses will be given in a language in which they are proficient. Accepted applicants may carry out a pre-arrival intensive language course to improve their French or English.

Planning : The programme takes place over a period of 12 months, from September to September. Classes begin on 9 September 2010 in Montpellier

Tuition fees : 15.000 €
The International Executive Masters steering committee may request that the AgroParisTech Board of Directors grant, in exceptional circumstances, reduced tuition fees if an applicant demonstrates merit and great need.
Teaching location :AgroParisTech-ENGREF centre of Montpellier
Housing logisitics:The additional cost of housing in France during the programm ei sestimated at 19.000 €. Costs of 3 trips to and from Montpellier to the Company also need to be budgeted.

These expenses are borne by the employer of the trainee, possibly with financial assistance from a financial backer.

So that trainees and their employers have a single contact for all administrative procedures and logistics arrangements, AgroParisTech has formed a partnership with EGIDE, a French public organisation specialised in welcoming students, researchers and professionals and organising their stays in France, whether they come for a university course, or work placement, scientific meeting, etc. To organise the arrival of International Executive Master trainees, each employer signs an agreement with EGIDE, based on a standard framework agreement negotiated by AgroParisTech, for a whole series of services, some of which are optional (country-Montpellier return trips, housing rental in Montpellier, etc.), while others are obligatory (insurance, social security).

Conditions d’admission Only applications sponsored by the applicant’s company or regulatory authority are admitted. 5-year diploma required (4-year diploma accepted for applicants with an exceptional career background.
Applications are studied by the selection committee throughout the year. May 15 deadline for acceptance the following September.
